DALLAS...UGH

At this point, I wish this could be a better post. For one, I am a huge football fan. I watch and enjoy this sport more than any other. To save you from a long, drawn-out story, here is the reason I, even though I have lived in New York State my entire life, am a Dallas Cowboys fan; because my father loved the team.

Well, that's how it all started anyway. My father's very first NFL game was in Texas Stadium and he loved it more than anything. I don't think it took him more than a few seconds to become a Cowboys fan.

About 16 or so years later, after following this team, living in Texas and then moving back to New York, he remained loyal. Then, I show up. And I have this father who's team is "America's team" but everyone around me hated, because let's face it, everyone was a NY Giants fan. It was not easy being a fan, but being a daddy's girl, and having the amazing team that was Emmit Smith and Troy Aikman, there was no way I wouldn't root for the 'Boys.

So growing up, I loved Sundays. They were lazy, in front of the t.v. watching the football games, people coming in and out, yelling at their favorite players and talking about odds and who would go to the Superbowl.

I have since still loved Sundays (well, football Sundays). There is somehow this feeling, when you have watched and favored a team your whole life, when they finally succeed you feel like you really are a part of it. Even though Tony Romo, T.O. and Marion Barber have no idea who the hell I am.

Having said that, this past Sunday was excruciating; watching my team play messy, get lucky, catch up and eventually have the craziness that was the entire game from beginning, bring them another loss.

But with display of botched plays and a turn-over extravaganza begs one question: Will Tony Romo be able to lead this team the way we all (as fans) think he can? Commentators after the game said when Romo is on he is as good as it gets. I think he's showed he can be a hell of a player with superstar potential. But, superstar athletes tend to make very little mistakes. And lets face it, even though I have been a fan my entire life and do believe Romo is a great quarterback, when he screws up, he really screws up. His mistakes are not always little; in more than one occasion they've cost us the game.

Yet, I still believe, even though he has a little more polishing to do, Romo has the potential to be that superstar quarterback. Face it- he's down right likable, apparently does well with cute blonds, has a sense of humor, and takes the kind of chances in a game that makes the "WOW" plays. He's an all-American guy. We just need him to be an all-American superstar QB. Well, in about 4 weeks once his broken finger has healed. Please Romo- come back with a COMEBACK...
